The fresh smell of grass, the blooming flowers, and the beautiful warmer days have arrived! Spring has arrived, and although it brings with it beautiful days, it also brings those to-do lists. If you’re getting your spring cleaning calendar ready, don’t forget your plumbing!
There are some DIY projects you can take on yourself when it comes to keeping your plumbing clean. We’ve gathered some tasks that will improve your plumbing below:
Use a natural bacterial drain cleaner to freshen up your pipes and prevent smells. Stay away from acid-based drain cleaning products and stick to environmentally safe products. The acid-based cleaning products can cause pipes to crack and tear and create more issues.
Not only does the filth make your shower head look unpleasant, but the dirt can block the jet openings on the shower head preventing the water from spraying properly. Your shower head can be easily cleaned with this DIY tip: Fill a gallon-sized Ziploc bag with warmed vinegar and use a zip tie to secure the bag to the shower head. Leave the bag on the shower head for 30 minutes. Remove the bag after the 30 minutes and wipe the shower head with a rag.
Clean out your gutters and downspouts. Gather your tools and put on a pair of work gloves. Use a tool to remove the debris out and then use a garden hose to flush the gutter in the direction of the down spout. If you come across a clog, use the garden hose to try and clear it. If you still can’t clear it, call your plumber to snake it.
